October open houses set for rail and trail planning project
Vancouver, WA - Clark County Public Works and Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation will host two public open houses for the Chelatchie Prairie Rail with Trail planning project:
October 2, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Yacolt Elementary
406 West Yacolt Road
and
October 4, from 6:30p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Brush Prairie High School
11500 NE 117 Avenue
This is the second opportunity for people to review work to date
since the trail planning project began this spring. About 60 people
attended the first series of open house events in July. The planning
phase of this project will be complete in the by the summer of 2008 and
identify a preferred trail alignment alternative for actual
construction.
The proposed trail planning project extends 33.2 miles diagonally
through Clark County from Burnt Bridge Creek at Interstate 5 to the
site of the original paper mill, just a few miles from Yale Reservoir.
The design staff conducted field investigation and prepared trail
alignment alternatives for public review. Staff also held key
stakeholder meetings this summer, and incorporated comments into the
analysis.
At the public meeting, project staff will display the revised trail
alignment analysis for review and comment by open house participants.
Feedback gathered at this public meeting will help refine the trail
plan and identify a preferred alternative.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children to this meeting. Light
refreshments will be provided. Planning materials used at the open
houses will also be on the project Web page starting the day after the
public meetings. Feedback on the concept plans may be submitted online.
The project Web page address is www.chelatchie.org.
Planning for this project is funded by a Federal Transportation
Enhancement grant, Park Regional Real Estate Excise Taxes and the Clark
County Road Fund.
